Paramount Makes Money Off ‘Avengers’ Too – LOTS OF MONEY

“makes money”?? Holy crap— Paramount is making a killing off Avengers all the way to the bank without lifting a finger. According to Deadline.com it goes like this:

the Avengers is the first Marvel Studios film owned, marketed and distributed by The Walt Disney Studios which took over those duties from Paramount this year. So is Paramount left out in the cold even though Avengers is sizzling hot at the box office? The answer is no. Disney CEO/President Bob Iger in 2009 bought the comics entertainment company for $4 billion and then in 2010 bought Paramount out of the final two films of its 6-picture distribution deal with Marvel Studios — The Avengers and Iron Man 3. Under its old deal with Marvel, Paramount also put up P&A and was reimbursed over time. So Disney paid a premium to put everything under its own roof as soon as possible. The result is that Paramount is getting paid without having to put up the P&A or exert the manpower that goes into releasing summer blockbusters.

P&A stands for Prints & Advertising. Prints aren’t that much but advertising? On a major release like this? How many times did you see the poster? The TV ad? The newspaper ad? The banner or online ad? Radio?

They got an advance of $115 Million against distribution percentages of Avengers or Iron Man 3 and looking at the box office for Avengers they’re going got make same MAJOR coin on the distribution PLUS Paramount retained the Pay TV rights which are going to be worth another huge pile of money.

From where I’m standing, Paramount just made a huge profit from a film someone else picked up the tab for advertising and putting in the theaters and have got to be laughing all the way to the bank!
